Another Jeffery is headed to USC. ATH Shamier Jeffery of Calhoun County, brother of Gamecock All American receiver Alshon Jeffery, committed to the Gamecocks Monday afternoon.

"They were his favorite all along," said Calhoun County assistant coach Duane Wages. "He wanted to get it over with with his brother there. Coach Beamer recruited him hard all along."

Jeffery played quarterback at Calhoun County and might get a look at that position at USC, but that’s not an issue with him. “They promised him they’ll give him a chance at quarterback but that’s not an issue any more,” Wages said. “He’s going there to play receiver. This kid has all the “it” his brother has. He has everything Alshon has but is faster, not as big, but can jump higher. Alshon is a long strider, Shamier is a quick twitch. He gets to his full speed quicker. He’s a better open field runner.”

Jeffery becomes the 25th commitment for the Gamecocks' 2011 class.
