USC athletics director Eric Hyman released a statement Wednesday night saying he is not pursuing the AD position at North Carolina.
I am honored to be considered by my alma mater, North Carolina, but my work here has not been finished and I love being a Gamecock, he said in the statement.
Hyman has been linked to the soon-to-be open job at North Carolina. WRAL-TV reported Tuesday that Hyman and UNC spoke this past weekend and that Hyman was UNC's "primary candidate."
Hyman is a North Carolina graduate and a former All-ACC football player for the Tar Heels. He joined USC in 2005 after serving as athletics director at TCU.
North Carolina is looking for a replace for current athletics director Dick Baddour.
