Alshon Jeffery still has it
The junior wide receiver had four catches for 148 yards and could have had more had he not been ejected in the third quarter. Jeffery set the schools career record for 100 yard games with 12 and is second all-time in the SEC in career receiving yards with 3,042.
Lorenzo Ward can coach defense just fine
In his debut as the full-time defensive coordinator, Ward watched Nebraska score touchdowns on its first two possessions. After that, the Gamecocks allowed just 147 yards (2.9 per play). Nebraska tailback Rex Burkhead had 71 yards in the first half and just 18 in the second half.
Turnovers are the difference
In its last three bowl games, South Carolina had 12 turnovers and lost all three games. On Monday, the Gamecocks did not have a turnover and won 30-13. Nebraska turned the ball over twice and both were deep inside Gamecock territory.
