Where's Watkins? The search continues

Published: February 24, 2012

— INDIANAPOLIS – Alshon Jeffery made his appearance at the NFL Combine on Friday, but Rokevious Watkins was a no-show in the media room for a second straight day.

Watkins is here at the combine, NFL officials confirmed, but has yet to wrangled into the media room, making him one of the few. There is still a chance Watkins could come in, and we’ll of course let you know what he says as soon as he does.

Only one Gamecock is scheduled to speak to the media on Saturday, but he’s a big one.

Defensive linemen take their turn Saturday and that means Melvin Ingram should make an appearance. Ingram is expected to be the first Gamecock selected in April’s NFL Draft, and a good workout here could push him as high as the No. 10 pick and the Buffalo Bills, who are looking for a player like Ingram who can rush the quarterback from a defensive end or outside linebacker position.

Saturday also is the first real day of workouts (again, apologies to the kickers who worked out Friday) so if you’ve got NFL Network, turn on the television and you might catch a glimpse of Watkins being put through his paces by NFL coaches.

That is, if they can find him.

Josh Kendall is in Indianapolis to cover the former Gamecocks taking part in the NFL Combine. Look for his updates here at GoGamecocks.com through next week.
