Alshon Jeffery didnt run with 40-yard dash with the wide receivers on Sunday, which wasnt a surprise considering he told reporters Friday that was a possibility. However, it was surprising that Jeffery didnt participate in any of the wide receiver drills.
As almost every other wide receiver at the event ran routes and went through drills to showcase their sure hands, Jeffery watched from the sideline, never removing his sweat suit.
Jeffery was not injured but simply chose not to work out, said Gil Brandt, a longtime NFL talent evaluator who helps organize the combine.
I am disappointed, Brandt said.
Jeffery will be able to do the same drills at South Carolinas pro day on March 28, but it wont be nearly as well attended by NFL personnel as the combine.
The guys had a chance to show what he can do, Brandt said. Right now, there is a lot of apprehension about the guy. I cant tell you why the guy wouldnt run or work out.
Jeffery made a good impression on his first day in town, weighing in at 216 pounds after rumors suggested he might be closer to 250.
