QB Andrew Matyk (6-1 212) of Seminole, FL visited USC Thursday to attend a spring practice. It was his second visit to the Capital City. "I really like it up here," Matyk said. "I think the coaches and players are really nice. Their facilities are as good as any school I've seen and they keep improving them."
Matyk's other visit to Columbia was for The Citadel game in November. "They run the same offense we run at my high school," he said. "They want to throw it but also take care of the ball. That's pretty much what we do."
His other visits have been to Notre Dame, Dartmouth, South Florida, Ohio State, North Carolina, Duke, Bowling Green and Florida Atlantic. Each of these schools are showing interest but none have offered.
"Coach (G.A.) Mangus is my recruiter and he told me I'm in the mix but he can't make any promises," Matyk said. "Ultimately, it's his decision who gets to play quarterback at South Carolina."
Matyk does not have any favorites but is interested in the Gamecocks. He says USC and several Ivy league schools have shown the most interest in him. He has plans to visit Florida International, Florida Atlantic and Northwestern in the near future.
