Grayson still likes USC

Published: March 23, 2012

RB Marquez Grayson of Lexington, NC says he’s been running track and working out for football in recent weeks. He’s not taken any recruiting visits recently since attending Clemson’s last junior day.

“I’ve been processing things and narrowing down where I want to go this summer and spring,” Grayson said. “I’m looking for a good academic fit. All of the schools will be about the same from a football standpoint.”

Grayson said he’ll visit the North Carolina schools, and he’s pretty sure he’ll visit Tennessee. He and Vols running backs coach Jay Graham have developed a good relationship.

He’s also looking at visits to USC, Clemson and Ohio State. “There’s strong interest both ways between me and USC and Clemson,” Grayson said. “USC and Clemson were my top schools along with Virginia Tech. When Coach Graham left (USC), that kind of stunned me, but I know that’s part of the profession. The biggest thing for me is finding a place close enough so that my mother can see me play.” Grayson has family in South Carolina and that’s another reason USC and Clemson are appealing.

Grayson has offers from Clemson, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, NC State, Tennessee, North Carolina and Duke.
