Howard waiting on USC to name coach

March 26, 2012

6-4 Matt Howard of AC Flora is one of the state’s 2013 prospects waiting on USC’s official announcement of a new basketball coach. USC had been on him strong under Darrin Horn.

“With the coaching change at USC, I have to see how that goes,” Howard said. “I’m leaning towards Virginia Tech, USC, Clemson and Harvard, but I haven’t talked to Clemson since the end of the season.”

Howard said he will visit Harvard and possibly Florida State over his spring break. He talks regularly with Harvard recruiter Brian Adams. Howard said he might make a decision in July or wait until his birthday in October.

This season Howard averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
