The 2002 Spring Game pitted the first team vs. the second team, with the second team being spotted 28 points. However, before the kickoff, the confident second-teamers refused to accept the points.

As it turned out, the 28 points wouldn’t have been near enough. The garnet-clad first team rolled up eleven touchdowns, ten of them by the offense, led by QB Corey Jenkins. Jenkins completed his first seven passes, and finished 11-of-18 for 245 yards with four TDs.

Safety Jonathan Martin returned an interception for a TD, while LB Lance Laury also had a pick.

The true final “score” of the game was 78-6. However, the final score on the official stat sheet reads 53-48. The White team was given 42 points.
