Redshirt freshman tight end Drew Owens had surgery Thursday afternoon on his left knee, the school confirmed.

The school did not release what type of procedure Owens underwent, but he is expected to make a full recovery in time for fall practice.

Owens injured his knee after making a touchdown catch in Saturday’s spring game. The Charlotte, N.C., native, who was one of the most impressive players during spring practice this year, kept fans abreast of his day’s events on his Twitter account.

“On my way to surgery! Lehhgoo! What up Surgery! Cya later bro’s,” he tweeted along with a photo of himself on a hospital gurney.
