THUMBS UP

AMENITIES

The $6.5 million video board and new Farmer’s Market parking area were hits Saturday, with fans and players. Marcus Lattimore raved about the new “Gamecock Walk” tradition while Shaq Wilson admitted to stealing looks to the video board when the team was on offense.

MARCUS LATTIMORE

With plenty of games remaining in his Gamecock career, the junior running back has tied George Rogers and Harold Green with 33 career touchdowns.

RORY ANDERSON

Four catches for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns? Looks like USC’s parade of quality tight end play marches on.

DYLAN THOMPSON

As first career starts go, it doesn’t get much better than 330 passing yards. It would appear those efforts to build up his confidence paid off.

JIMMY LEGREE

Spurrier called it Legree’s best game as a Gamecock. Hard to argue with a pick-six and five tackles. He also appeared to have forced and recovered a fumble, but it was overturned by replay.

D.L. MOORE

The senior made the most of his two receptions on Saturday, catching both for touchdowns. Moore was on the receiving end of a 16-yard touchdown toss from Ace Sanders in the fourth quarter.

BRISON WILLIAMS

Williams bounced back from allowing a big play to Vanderbilt last week to recording the first of four USC interceptions against the Pirates.

THUMBS DOWN

KICKING GAME

A missed conversion try, a 32-yard punt and a 24-yard punt for the Gamecocks, who used two kickers and two punters.

CROWD

The student section dwindled throughout the game, beginning with a mass exodus at halftime. The upper deck never was more than half full. What gives?

SHAQ ROLAND

But only a soft thumbs down. His three drops hit him in the hands — but they would have been spectacular catches if he hauled them in.

DYLAN THOMPSON

Come on, bro ... you can’t be lowering your head and taking on a defender inside the 5-yard line during a rout. The resulting fumble was the least of Spurrier’s concerns on that play.

STEVE SPURRIER

Once again, the Gamecocks awkwardly muddled through a two-minute drill, failing to manage the clock and leaving a timeout in their pocket to end the first half. This is a fixer-upper.
