Neil White’s thoroughly unscientific weekly rankings of the SEC and ACC.

1. ALABAMA (5-0)

Tide gets a week off after rolling over first part of schedule.

2. FLORIDA STATE (5-0)

Noles leave Florida for first ACC road trip against N.C. State.

3. LSU (5-0)

After two ho-hum weeks, Tigers head for showdown in The Swamp.

4. GEORGIA (5-0)

Prolific offense will get a test against a big and fast USC defense.

5. SOUTH CAROLINA (5-0)

Exhibition season ends with Bulldogs coming to Williams-Brice.

6. FLORIDA (4-0)

Gators fasted last week in order to take a big chomp out of LSU.

7. CLEMSON (4-1)

Stingless Yellow Jackets buzz into town; Tigers get out swatter.

8. MISSISSIPPI STATE (4-0)

Bulldogs should stay unbeaten with a trip to the Bluegrass State.

9. TEXAS A&M (3-1)

Aggies head to Ole Miss for first SEC road trip in school history.

10. MIAMI, FLA. (4-1)

Canes head out to play Notre Dame, a kinda, sorta future ACC team.

11. TENNESSEE (3-2)

Hung tough against Georgia, but Vols came up short before bye week.

12. MISSOURI (3-2)

Tigers eyeball first SEC win with Vanderbilt coming to town.

13. N.C. STATE (3-2)

Shootout loss to Miami could be repeated with FSU arriving.

14. NORTH CAROLINA (3-2)

Game against Virginia Tech is Little-Better-Than-Average Bowl.

15. OLE MISS (3-2)

After battling Alabama, playing A&M may feel like a break.

16. VIRGINIA TECH (3-2)

Wasn’t this team supposed to be much better than it’s playing?

17. AUBURN (1-3)

Good news for Auburn fans: The Quittin’ Razorbacks are up next.

18. DUKE (4-1)

How about those Dukies? No reason they can’t keep it going in ACC.

19. MARYLAND (2-2)

Game against Wake Forest is Little-Worse-Than-Average Bowl.

20. GEORGIA TECH (2-3)

Getting trucked by Middle Tennessee doesn’t bode well for GT.

21. WAKE FOREST (3-2)

Deacons lost to Duke, but the Devils made them do it.

22. VANDERBILT (1-3)

It’s time for Commodores to show they can beat an FBS team.

23. VIRGINIA (2-3)

After winning first two games, Cavs have lost three straight.

24. BOSTON COLLEGE (1-3)

Eagles march toward victory against a winless Army team.

25. KENTUCKY (1-4)

Wildcats played one good half last week but couldn’t play two.

26. ARKANSAS (1-4)

Hogs gave up 51 unanswered points last week. Holy cow.
