USC held its first bowl practice Saturday and junior DB prospect Darin Smalls of Summerville was on hand to take it in as part of an unofficial visit.
"It went pretty good," Smalls said. "I met some players and saw some new things. It's a nice campus."
USC is Small's first offer and he's also hearing from Clemson, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. And he has the Gamecocks as his leader right now.
"I really do like Carolina but I'm waiting it out right now," he said. "They play five defensive backs coach my chances of playing would be high. The coverages are similar to what we do so I could fit right in."
Smalls plans to get to USC, Clemson and Georgia Tech for junior days.
This season Smalls had 58 tackles and 5 interceptions. He had 6 interceptions as a junior.
