USC has shot at transferring point guard

December 21, 2012

Former Villanova PG Tyrone Johnson will choose between USC and Illinois according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports Network. Johnson has visited USC and George Washington, and Bill Gunter of TheBigSpur.com reported that Johnson will visit Illinois this weekend.

Johnson was a highly touted recruit in 2011 for the Wildcats out of Plainfield, NJ. He averaged 3.3 points and 2 assists per game last season.

He decided to leave Villanova at the start of this season. He has remained in school and has been working out with the team while exploring his options.

Johnson will enroll in January and will become eligible next December.
