Tanner English got results of MRI on his injured shoulder and does not need surgery. He won’t play Friday and is highly doubtful for the weekend series.

He is expected to play in SEC opening weekend against Missouri next weekend, and might play in the midweek games Tuesday-Wednesday if he gets medical clearance.

Meanwhile, USC's starting pitchers vs. Rider this weekend will be Evan Beal on Friday, Colby Holmes on Saturday, and Nolan Belcher on Sunday.

It is sophomore right-hander Evan Beal's first start of the season, and the second start of his career.

Beal is starting in place of USC's injured ace, left-hander Jordan Montgomery.
