Right shoulder injury sidelines Wildcats DT Rumph

March 30, 2013

— Kentucky defensive tackle Donte Rumph was scheduled to have right shoulder surgery Friday. First-year Wildcats coach Mark Stoops says the senior will be sidelined until the fall.

Rumph injured the shoulder during Monday's workout and was evaluated at midweek. Stoops didn't specify what type of injury he sustained but says he expects Rumph to make a full recovery and “be back by the fall.”

A three-year letterman and two-year starter for Kentucky, the 6-foot-3, 323-pound Rumph ranked seventh on the team with a career-best 36 tackles including six stops for minus-34 yards and four sacks for 25 yards.

Senior Tristian Johnson has replaced Rumph for the remainder of Kentucky's spring workouts, which conclude with the Blue/White scrimmage on April 13 at Commonwealth Stadium.
