A Tiger Paw was painted on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium.

— Clemson is not due to play South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium until late fall, but someone brought a little of the rivalry to the springtime.

A crudely painted orange tiger paw was found on the Gamecocks’ field Tuesday.

USC defensive back Victor Hampton uploaded a photo on Instagram with the message: “It’s war they put a paw on our field so #disrespectful.”

The paw was painted near the 30 yard line. USC played its spring game at the stadium on Saturday.

Outside the stadium, at least two tailgating Cockabooses were defaced with orange spray paint -- one with the words “Go Tigers” and another with a Tiger paw, WACH and WIS reported.

The Gamecocks said they had few details and no immediate leads.

South Carolina will be going for a school-record fifth consecutive win over archrival Clemson on Nov. 30.
