Kalan Ritchie

Tight end Kalan Ritchie (6-6, 226) of Goose Creek on Tuesday night announced a commitment to South Carolina on his Twitter page. Ritchie picked the Gamecocks over Clemson and NC State. He also held offers from Virginia Tech and Connecticut.

"He's a hell of a tight end as a blocker," Goose Creek coach Chuck Reedy said. "We're trying to develop him as a receiver."

Ritchie has made several trips to USC and sees a fit for himself in the Gamecock offense.

"I love their offense," he said. "I like how they get some of their younger tight ends in."

Ritchie visited USC on April 4 with his mother. He also made visits this spring to Clemson, Tennessee and Georgia.

Ritchie is USC's third commitment for the 2014 class.

Rivals rates him a four-star prospect and the No. 212 prospect in the Rivals250.

He is the No. 14 overall tight end in the country, according to 247Composite - which factors in all rankings.
