Alabama rallies past Auburn 6-3 at SEC tournament

— Alabama used a 3-run rally in the eighth inning to push past Auburn for a 6-3 victory in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Tuesday.

The Tide (33-24) trailed 3-1 after three innings, but scored a run in both the fourth and the sixth to tie the game. Chance Vincent hit a single to score Austen Smith for the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

Smith had three hits for Alabama while Ben Moore and Brett Booth both added two hits. Jay Shaw (2-1) threw five innings of scoreless relief for the Tide.

Auburn (33-23) is eliminated from the tournament. Reid Carter (1-2) took the loss for the Tigers, giving up one run in 2 1/3 innings. Hunter Kelley led Auburn with two hits.

Alabama will face LSU on Wednesday in the second round.
