Highly rated OF picks USC

July 3, 2013

OF Danny Blair of Bel Air, MD committed to USC Tuesday night after wrapping up a visit to the school. Blair picked the Gamecocks over Florida, Arizona State and LSU. PerfectGame.com ranks the lefthanded hitting Blair among the best outfielders in the country in his class. Here's the PerfectGame.com profile:

"Danny Blair is a 2015 OF/1B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Bel Air, MD who attends Gilman HS. Compact strong build. 6.81 runner, short quick outfield arm action, good arm strength and accuracy, still developing his footwork through the ball. Left handed hitter, straight stance, high hand set, rotational swing, swings hard, mostly pull contact, has raw bat speed and the strength to hit and should keep improving. Good student."

Blair was the MVP of the Good Will Games in Australia last winter. And he's a former teammate of former Gamecock walk-on Ryan Ripken, the son of Cal Ripken Jr. Blair is the Gamecocks' sixth commitment for the 2015 class and the second for the outfield.
