USC trailing for Randolph

July 3, 2013

DB Kendall Randolph of Tallahassee recently visited USC and returned to Florida with the Gamecocks in his top three. "It went exactly how I hoped it would," said Randolph. "I got to hang out with coach (Kurt) Botkin and see the campus. I talked to them a lot about the academic side of things. That's why I scheduled the South Carolina visit early, I really liked them and wanted to see it in person."

That was his first trip this summer. Randolph last talked to Botkin a couple of days after his visit. "I'm one of their top recruits they are trying to get right now," Randolph said. "They are real heavy on me. They are in my top three with Georgia and Florida State. I have a real strong feeling about South Carolina."

Randolph did not get the chance to talk with Steve Spurrier while on his visit and hopes to talk to him either on the phone or in person when he visits again, probably for a game this season. Randolph's next visit will be to Alabama and he also plans to visit Georgia, Miami and Florida by the end of the summer. He's also looking at Kentucky, Louisville, Stanford and Vanderbilt for possible visits.

Right now Randolph has a top three, in order, of Georgia, Florida State and USC. "Just how comfortable I feel with the staff there," Randolph said in explaining why Georgia leads. "They are really lacking at corner right now. I'm comfortable with everything about the school. That's really the school that's most comfortable with me right now."

Randolph does not have a timetable for a decision.
