Taylor Stallworth

Defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth (6-3 280) of Mobile, Ala., committed to South Carolina on Saturday while on campus for an unofficial visit.

Stallworth picked the Gamecocks over Auburn and Mississippi State.

He made the visit with three of his assistant coaches and met with Steve Spurrier, Lorenzo Ward, Deke Adams and Kirk Botkin while on the visit.

"I'm feeling great about it," Stallworth said of his decision. "I feel this is the place for me the next three or four years."

Stallworth said the USC coaches told him he could be a defensive end or defensive tackle.

"I really like their approach to defense," he said. "They laid down the basics and told me what's best for me."

Last season he had 59 tackles with nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

Some of his other offers were Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Louisville, Florida State and NC State.

Stallworth is USC's 11th commitment for the 2014 class.

He is rated a three-star prospect by all the recruiting networks.
