Blanton strongly considering Gamecocks

August 31, 2013

6-5 TeMarcus Blanton of Locust Grove, GA made an official visit to USC over the weekend. He did not commit but his coach believes the Gamecocks will have a good chance to eventually land him.

"I know that's where his heart is right now," Reginald Johnson said Saturday afternoon. "He's not really holding out for anything. We want him to stay somewhere close. We think South Carolina would be a really good fit. Playing the SEC, with the competition level he'll have, it would be a real good fit for him."

Blanton averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds a game last season and has a solid offensive game according to Johnson who is a native of Darlington.

"He can shoot and his ability to get to the bucket is great. One thing he likes to do is go to the cup."

The USC visit was the first for Blanton. Florida State, Auburn, George Mason, Michigan State and Arkansas are some of the other offers for Blanton. He is scheduled to visit Auburn next weekend and George Mason September 20th.
