WHAT'S AT STAKE
South Carolina has done what it needs to remain a part of the Southeastern Conference championship discussion following a 41-30 loss at Georgia on Sept. 7, winning three straight games including a pair of SEC contests. The Gamecocks, however, begin a three-game road trip on Saturday, beginning at Arkansas before traveling to Tennessee and Missouri. Arkansas has lost three straight and is in jeopardy of missing a bowl game for a second straight season.
Arkansas secondary vs. South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw. The Razorbacks have struggled in the secondary at times this season, particularly during their three-game losing streak. Their test became even more difficult this week when starting CB Will Hines suffered a broken arm in last week's loss to Florida. Shaw was 17-of-20 passing for 262 yards against Kentucky last week.
JUST THE FACTS
A USC win over Arkansas would ...
... Be the first for the Gamecocks in Arkansas since the 2005 season, Coach Spurriers first season here. USC has lost on its last three trips to Fayetteville.
... Give the Gamecocks back-to-back wins over the Razorbacks for the third time, last done since 2004-05. The only time USC topped Arkansas in back-to-back games was 1996-97.
... Be Connor Shaws 22nd win as a starting quarterback. Only Todd Ellis (24) owns more Ws as a USC QB.
... Keep the Gamecocks in the mix for the SEC Eastern Division title with just one conference loss.
