South Carolina's Alaina Coates was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.

In two games last week, Coates:

* Averaged a double-double for the week and is just shy of averaging one for the season.

* Snagged 10 of her 14 rebounds against College of Charleston in the second half, helping the Gamecocks more than double their lead over halftime.

* Tied for third in school history for rebounds by a freshman with her 14 against CofC, one short of the freshman school record.

* Needed just 13 minutes on the court to record 11 points and 14 rebounds against College of Charleston.

* Swatted away four shots against Seton Hall, including one without leaving her feet, which is tied for fourth-most ever by a Gamecock freshman.
