Chapman coach Mark Hodge Wednesday night clarified that his receiver Tyshun Samuel does have an official offer from USC.
That was thought to be the case early in the week but in an interview here Tuesday night Samuel stated he wasn't sure if he had a USC offer and had to talk to them some more.
"He knew he had gotten offered, but he didn't know how to not answer that question," Hodge said.
The coach added that it's been a whirlwind week for Samuel with the offer, senior class project and preparation for Friday's playoff game, and he's a little overwhelmed by the attention. Hodge said he explained to Samuel how to talk with the media in the future so to avoid any confusion.
The coach also said he's not aware of an announcement date for Samuel, though the player has identified December 14th, his birthday, as his announcement day. But Hodge said that's a Saturday and Samuel is scheduled to take the SAT again that day.
Samuel did say Tuesday night a USC offer would lead to a commitment from him. He plans to be at USC Saturday.
