JUCO DE Caldwell hopes to learn more from USC today

December 18, 2013

DE Darriuis Caldwell of Pearl River JC, MS last talked with his USC recruiter Deke Adams on Sunday but said Wednesday morning that he plans to get in touch with him later in the day to see where things stand for him from a USC standpoint.

Caldwell has a tentative offer from the Gamecocks pending on a review of his transcripts. If USC believes he's on course to graduate in May, he's likely to get an official offer, and he said he would commit to the Gamecocks if one is made.

"It's a historic place athletic wise," said Caldwell, who was offered by USC out of high school in Atlanta. "I always wanted to play for a big time coach. I always wanted to play for an established coach. And their defense is tough. They play great defense and I think I can go in and help."

Caldwell has offers from Southern Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette, UAB, South Alabama and West Alabama.

He signed with Illinois out of high school and spent two seasons there before transferring to Pearl River for this season. He would have two years to play two.
