— Playing a game in Florida means a homecoming for 13 Gamecocks who are from the Sunshine State.

The next week is special for senior guard Ronald Patrick, who is playing his final college game 45 minutes from his hometown of Cocoa.

“It’s amazing I’m able to have my last game close to home,” Patrick said. “It’s like a home game for me. Any time the Florida guys get to come back to Florida, we have fun. We don’t get to come home that often.”

The Gamecocks were here two seasons ago for the Capital One Bowl. Last season featured games at Gainesville against the Florida Gators and the Outback Bowl matchup against Michigan in Tampa.

South Carolina visited Orlando once this season, a 28-25 win over Central Florida on Sept. 28. That was a quick turnaround compared to the Capital One Bowl trip that lasts a full seven nights for the team.

The week’s activities include trips to Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld, all places Patrick was familiar with growing up.

“I enjoy them, but I know how the lines are during the holidays,” Patrick said. “I’ll still go to some of them, though. I’m just looking forward to having fun with my teammates one last time.”
