Gamecocks No. 7 in two preseason baseball polls

South Carolina is ranked No. 7 in the Baseball America Preseason Top 25 and Perfect Game Preseason College Top 25 announced on Monday.

The Gamecocks begin the 2014 season on Friday, Feb. 14 in the first game of a three-game series at Carolina Stadium.

In the Baseball America poll, USC is one of eight SEC schools to be ranked in the preseason poll, and the highest ranked of all the SEC squads.

In the Perfect Game rankings, Mississippi State is one spot ahead of the Gamecocks.

USC was ranked No. 14 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll that was released in December.
