Major programs still calling on Blackshear

February 21, 2014

DE Shameik Blackshear of Bluffton has been a USC commitment since last May and continues to hold to that pledge according to his coach. But like any highly prized football recruit being wooed by schools across the country, Blackshear still has that desire to sniff around at other places.

"Still got people coming in the back door," Bluffton coach Ken Cribb said. "He's being very accommodating and polite and talks to them. We're not getting overrun. There's still a couple of big boys coming in. Alabama is keeping in close contact with him. And Florida State. Those two continue to work him. He doesn't want to disrespect anybody. He'd like to go see a few games and visit a couple of places, maybe, just to make sure he feels good about what he's doing."

Cribb said he believes Blackshear remains 100% committed "as long as he don't cost himself from getting extra exposure that he might would like to get as any kid would. As long as he wins Mr. Football and is the #1 recruit in he country, I think he'll be fine. And I think he probably is."

Blackshear will attend USC's junior day March 29th. Alabama and Florida State would also like him to visit.

Cribb said Blackshear played thru three injuries last season..a cracked bone in his wrist, a slightly dislocated shoulder and a badly dislocated finger that will require surgery.
