Freshman right-hander Wil Crowe has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

This marks the second consecutive week Crowe earned SEC honors, as he was previously named SEC Pitcher of the Week.

Crowe worked 6.1 scoreless innings in Sunday’s victory over Eastern Kentucky with four hits allowed and one walk to pick up his second win of the season. Crowe has 10 strikeouts in a team-high 12.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .100 against him.

The SEC selected USC softball's Nickie Blue as its Freshman of the Week, also announced on Monday.

Blue went 2-0 and picked up two saves in five appearances on the week, tossing her first career shutout in the process. The Longmont, Colo., native did not allow a run and struck out 16 batters in 15 innings of work, including a five-inning shutout of Michigan State. She also won the Charlotte game in relief and got saves over Boston University and UNC Wilmington, striking out the first five batters she faced in the latter outing.
