Did you know…

Roy has written the team song for the past three years. The past two years, the song and video have been played on the scoreboard before the team is introduced at home games.

“Freshman year, we had a team song, but we didn’t make it into a video. Rapping is something I like to do, and I think it’s fun to write about the team.”

Making her own rap songs is something Roy has done since she was 8 years old.

“The beat, it comes from just listening to instrumentals and seeing which one I like better. The lyrics, I think about what everybody does good and what they bring to the court.”

Despite her Louisiana heritage …

“I can’t swim. Lot of lakes and bayous in Louisiana, but in my town, there was a swimming pool. It got shut down when I was 4. I was scared to learn later. I’m not scared to fly, but I don’t want to swim.”
