South Carolina redshirt freshman offensive lineman Na’Ty Rodgers was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Officers responded to a civil disturbance at 800 Harden Street after Rodgers was allegedly acting in a loud and boisterous manner, according to information provided by the police. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol when speaking to Rodgers, and he was cooperative with police, the department reported.

His arrest triggers an automatic indefinite suspension under South Carolina’s athletics department policy.

Rodgers entered spring competing for playing time at right guard. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder from Waldorf, Md., was a four-star prospect when he signed with the Gamecocks in 2013.
