COLUMBIA, SC — The South Carolina baseball teams injury issues are expected to linger through the weekend against Auburn.
Second baseman Max Schrock, who left Wednesdays game against The Citadel in the fourth inning with a sore back after missing the previous the previous four games with a virus, isnt likely to play in the series.
Third baseman Joey Pankake, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, practiced Thursday in Auburn. The coaching staff is hopeful that he will be able to play Friday.
Shortstop Marcus Mooney, who has missed the last two games with a concussion, is definitely out Friday and Saturday, but his status for Sunday is still to be determined.
Right-fielder Connor Bright, who suffered a hyper-extended elbow last weekend and missed the two midweek games, had the injury examined again, and the results showed no ligament damage. He is listed as day-to-day.
And reliever Vince Fiori, who had to leave The Citadel game with a strained lat muscle, did not make the trip to Auburn.
