Running back AJ Turner of Clifton, VA spent much of Friday in Columbia getting a close-up look at the USC program.

The Gamecocks and several other schools just offered Turner, who's recruiting reputation is spreading to a national level. He also has offers from Clemson, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Maryland, Ohio State and East Carolina.

Turner could offer only a brief comment following his visit but apparently he liked what he saw in Columbia.

"It was amazing," he said of the visit. "Very thorough and organized."

Turner said he spent his time with recruiter Deke Adams and running backs coach Everette Sands.

"They showed me all around campus," he said. "The academic administration, the life skill coach. and I was really impressed with it all. They are high on my list but not a favorite." Turner is not ready to name a favorite at this point.

Turner also has visited Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland. He also wants to visit Clemson.
