The Gamecocks are moving up in at least one of those "way-too-early" Top 25 rankings for the 2014 football season.

Mark Schlabach released his Post-Spring Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25 on ESPN.com on Monday, with the Gamecocks moving up three spots to No. 10. (USC was No. 13 in the Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25 released four months ago.)

Among Schlabach's comments about South Carolina: "The Gamecocks will undoubtedly miss quarterback Connor Shaw's production and toughness, but Dylan Thompson looked more than ready to take over the offense during the spring. ... South Carolina's biggest concerns are on defense, where it has to replace star end Jadeveon Clowney, the potential No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, and linemen Kelcy Quarles and Chaz Sutton."

Alabama (2), Auburn (4) and Georgia (8) are the SEC teams ahead of USC in the ESPN ranking. View the full list here.

The Gamecocks are coming off their third-straight 11-2 season and kick off the season at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, against Texas A&M at Williams-Brice Stadium.
